BOTLEY HILL BARN WEDDING

SURREY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

beth + joe

Beth and Joe’s wedding was particularly memorable and it was brimming with unique and personal details. It was clear that so much consideration had gone into every single element of their day from both a visual and sentimental perspective. Joe is a very creative guy, I was blown away to learn that he created so many of the beautiful pieces on display, from designing the signage and stationary to hand making the ‘Jenna guest book’ and even a hand carved ring box that he made for his engagement to Beth. It doesn’t get much more thoughtful than that. Adding to this were Beth’s Nan’s incredible floral designs; gorgeous elaborate pieces that were made even more special knowing how much love had gone into making them.

Beth and Joe aren’t traditionalists… Beth chose a bias black satin gown by Rock The Frock Bridal. She looked incredible and now that I have shot their wedding I can see how perfectly her dress choice fit into the whole look of the day. It was perfection.

Beth and Joe held their celebrations at Botley Hill Barn; an incredible barn venue in the heart of Surrey. Botley Hill barn is both rustic and contemporary, lending itself perfectly to the chic styling of Beth and Joe’s day. What I love about this venue is it’s ability to host different parts of the day in it’s different spaces, continuously surprising your guests with another amazing space throughout the day. Beth and Joe held their ceremony the Oakly barn, an incredible rustic barn with raw brickwork and a roaring fireplace, the perfect location for a romantic ceremony. Beth and Joe chose to have their confetti shot walking back down the aisle when exiting the barn, I love it when couples choose to do this if their venue allows. It is such a celebratory moment and works perfectly with the natural flow of the day.

The drinks reception took place at Botley Hill Barn’s descriptively named ‘Baby Barn’; the smallest of the three barns and the perfect place for lounging and sipping champagne with its comfortable sofas, inviting armchairs and chic decor. It also has access to the incredible terrace with it’s gorgeous views of the rolling Surrey hills. The gardens and grounds were the perfect location for relaxed portraits along with their quaint shepherds huts which guests can actually stay in.

Dinner took place in the ‘Main Barn’; an imposing black timber barn with graphic lines, exposed beams and floor to ceiling windows with views of the breathtaking countryside. We were even treated to the most incredible sunset as a backdrop to the speeches, a rare and unique quality that this gorgeous Surrey venue offers!

For the evening the ‘Main Barn’ transforms into an incredible dance space and flows perfectly on from the ‘Baby Barn’ for those less inclined to put on their ‘dancing shoes’. Speaking of dancing shoes, Beth and Joe slipped into their customised Mr and Mrs Vans sneakers ahead of the dance floor action… and it was a good job they did. There were moves on that dance floor…the likes of which I have never seen! I mean that in THE BEST possible way, it was packed and wonderful to photograph.

Thank you Botley Hill Barn, you were an absolute pleasure.
