Jo + Henry said ‘I do’ at the incredible Kelmarsh Hall. The Kelmarsh estate is a stunning country house wedding venue in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside. As well as it’s grand rooms it boasts beautiful walled gardens, a botanical greenhouse and an ornamental lake, perfect for couples wanting a lakeside wedding. Kelmarsh Hall really is a wedding photographer’s dream when it comes to venues; in terms of backdrops, I was totally spoilt for choice! For couples planning a Northampton wedding, I cannot recommend Kelmarsh enough.
Jo + Henry held their ceremony at the historic St Deny’s church that is short walk from Kelmarsh itself… or an even shorter bike ride as Henry and his groomsmen stylishly demonstrated. They cycled to the ceremony down country lanes in full wedding attire, just one of the many details about their day that screamed ‘quintessential English charm’. The boys added a touch of personality with their selection of totally mad socks , as well as a little ‘HELP’ message kindly (and secretly!) plastered to the bottom of Henry’s shoes by his groomsmen which was on full display during the very serious wedding vows! The day was full of lighthearted touches like this, it added an incredible amount of warmth and humour to the formalities. Jo looked incredible in a lace Alma Novia gown, she epitomised vintage elegance and it felt like Kelmarsh Hall was made for her.
They held their drinks reception in Kelmarsh Hall’s abundant walled gardens where guests sipped champagne and enjoyed the wonderful English weather… that classic combination of sun AND rain. Thankfully guests could shelter themselves with quirky heart shaped umbrellas. They had thought of everything.
Jo and Henry dined with their guests in the Great Hall by candlelight on long banquet tables and afterwards performed a joint speech, regaling their guests with the hilarious story of how they met, a demonstration of what an incredible team they both make.
After dinner coffees were served on Kelmarsh Hall’s vast lawn overlooking the lake as the sun went down followed by ALOT of dancing and the most incredible swing and soul band. Jo and Henry know how to throw a party… a very very chic party.
